This will be my last post from my trip.  It has not hit me yet that this experience is almost over.  I have done so many awesome things in the last 3 weeks and have met some truly amazing people.  I had my last week with the school this week.  I spent time in many different teachers’ rooms this week.  I was really attached to my class so I didn’t really want to move around, but ended up learning so much from the other teachers.  It was amazing to me how young they all were.  The average age was probably 21 and they had already been teaching for a few years.  On my last day I went back to my original classroom and spoiled the kids with lots of candy.  My friend Ali bought me a Polaroid camera so I was able to send each student home with a picture of themselves.  They were so excited! They kept saying “God bless you”.  It was very cute.  It was very hard to say goodbye to the kids and teachers.

Friday morning Roz and I had a drumming and dancing lesson.  It was kind of awkward being just the two of us, but we had a lot of fun.  We learned a traditional African dance while they played the drums.  I have a video of us doing it but you may need to bribe me to see it.  Then we sat at the drums and got to learn the beat they had played while we were dancing.  Let me tell you, I have no rhythm.  It was very fun though and it was a beautiful day drumming right along the beach.  We had lunch in town with Abenaa and all had chocolate crepes.  Abenaa and I went back to the house for dinner and a movie.  We had CHICKEN and fried rice.  I was so happy to have chicken for dinner.  I am so over fish.  After dinner most of the volunteers and some friends decided to go Cape Coast bar hoping! We hit up 3 of the local bars for live bands and dancing.  It was a great night.

We had to be up very early this morning for what Proworld calls an impact project.  Abenna and I were late because we had a hard time getting going after our fun night J We headed to the school I was working at, FEDEP, to paint the fence and some classrooms.  It was extremely hot but we did pretty fast work.  Probably not professional quality but the building is now yellow.  Some of the volunteers ended up yellow as well after some paint fights.  After that we all went home to shower and met up at the bar Oasis on the beach for lunch.  I got a cheeseburger… again.  I will take “beef” any chance I can get.  We spent some time hanging out and enjoying the ocean and breeze. We will go back tonight to celebrate my last night here.

Next I headed back to the Proworld house to do some homework.  My classes have started up and I am slowing easing back into reality.  It is going to be a very hard transition back to normal life.  I am very excited to get back to my family, friends, baby Brady, and normal food! I am going to miss it here like crazy though.  The things I have done and the people I have met have changed me forever.  I am interested to see how it plays a role in my life from here on.  I appreciate more than you would believe you following along and the comments you have left.  It made me feel closer to home and I was excited to share my stories with you.  I can’t wait to share my pictures with you and see you all when I get home! I head back tomorrow and get into Chicago 6:00pm Monday.  Than k you for reading and I will see you soon!
