I didn't get a chance yesterday so I'm playing catch up again :) Its been such a relaxing day today and I'm feeling refreshed. I took a 3 hour nap!!Yesterday I worked at Sankofa. I made it out there all by myself. I was pretty proud :) I might, just might,  be getting the hang of it. The day started out like the others. It seemed like there were less students and even fewer teachers. I took one of the classrooms that didn't have a teacher. I've been spending a lot of time in the KG2 classroom. The KG1 students were placed in my class as well. It ends up being around 30 students. I was a little overwhelmed but I made it work, somehow :) I was running out of things to teach so I decided I would give them each a sheet out of a coloring book and a few crayons. I could not believe how excited they were. They sat so quietly while I passed everything out. They were SO proud of their work and it made my heart happy. They were also very excited that they could take it home to their families. I asked them to leave the crayons with me, but only about half back which is completely fine. I'm definitely going to try to do some art projects with them. It passed the time, they were so good and it made them happy :) Which makes me happy! After work I headed back into town. I was ready for a nap when Nana called and asked if I wanted to ride with him to go meet some new students that he would be taking on a trip next week. I needed to go to Cape Coast any way so I headed to town with him. The town was located about 3 towns from Cape Coast. It was about a 30 minute drive back towards Accra. The hotel/resort the students were staying at was on top of a large hill that overlooked everything. It was so gorgeous. I was happy I was able to go with him. He does a pretty cool tour that lasts for 5 days. We are already planning a time when I can go with him before I leave. From there we headed back to Elmina to drop off a few things. We decided to go back to Cape Coast for dinner. We went to Oasis again. Such a touristy place. I got a cheeseburger and chips (fries). It was the first semi-american food that I've had since I've been here. It tasted amazing. The food here is great but I still miss a lot of American foods. I could definitely go for a good salad bar right now. I also miss snack foods. I'm almost out of my goldfish too. Might have to make a call to mom for a care package with some goodies :) I'd be happy to provide the address if anyone would like to send me some snacks! They only have Sprite and Coke that means no Dr. Pepper. I definitely miss that as well :) Not sure that would make it to Ghana tho. I spent the night at the ProWorld house because we had to leave early this morning for Kakum National Park where we did the canopy walk. It was awesome!! I will be adding more pictures to my facebook when the electricity comes back on. After the canopy walk we headed to lunch at Hans Cottage. There are alligators that live at the cottage. I was brave and touched one :) I also got pictures of that for those that don't believe this wimp could really do it :) It was really cool actually. We headed back to the ProWorld house and I fell took a really long nap. It felt fantastic :) I was trying to upload more pictures but the electricity just went out so the internet is down. I'm going out to Oasis yet again tonight to have some drinks with the other volunteers. One of them is leaving tomorrow so we are having a little going away thing for her. Should be a good time. Alex is staying the night with me tonight so it will be fun to have a little sleep over. I'm so thankful for her :) Definitely excited that we live so close in the states so we can visit each other!I think that's all for now. Feeling a little blah and out of it right now. I need to wake up :) Tomorrow we are doing a tour at the Cape Coast Castle so I'm sure I will have a lot to write about after we do that. Love and miss you all. Keep the messages coming :) I love hearing from everyone. And like I said, if anyone wants to send me anything I can provide the address! Hope you are enjoying my adventures. This place is pretty amazing!!XOXO
